Luigi LAFASCIANO

Luigi completed his B.S. and Masters degrees in Archaeology at the University of Bari, during which time he participated in the Erasmus exchange program to study in Spain. He has lived in and journeyed through several Mediterranean countries (namely Algeria, Turkey, Greece, France, Spain, and Italy) cultivating a multitude of interests in history, anthropology, popular music and culture, and ancient literature. He is currently working on his PhD thesis, about the role of the sacred in the political transition of the Greek Polis to the Early Christian town, at the University of Salerno (Italy) and the École Pratique des Hautes Études de Paris (France).

Alfonso DOMÍNGUEZ

Alfonso trained as a Classical Philologist at the University of Malága in Spain where he also received a Masters in Teaching in 2014. He specializes in textual criticism, and is particularly interested in Indo-European studies, and Linguistics and Literary Theory. His interests also include music studies and language didactics; and is trained as a teacher in classical languages. Alfonso is currently developing his PhD thesis on Byzantine Studies, making a Critical Edition of an unpublished text (the Anonymous Commentary of Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos) from Greek and Latin manuscripts, at the University of Salerno (Italy) and the University of Malgáa (Spain).

Kangil JI

Kangil received his Masters in Architecture II from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and his Bachelors of Architecture from the Korea National University of Arts (RIBA Parts I & II). During his studies, he won several awards, scholarships, and grants, including Best Prize in the Seoul Urban Design Competition (2013), Finalist of the Norman Foster Travel Scholarship (2011), Korean Minister's full scholarship (2010), and various travel grants funded by TU Delft (2010), the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (2004), NC Soft (2003), and the Daum Foundation (2003). Kangil is currently a design partner at Terminal7 Architects in Seoul, South Korea.

Ioanna LAZERI

Carolyn MURASKIN

Carolyn completed a Bachelors of Science in Architecture at the University of Maryland School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation in 2010. She worked for several firms in the Washington D.C. area before leaving her drafting desk to start an architectural tour company (DC Design Tours), so she could "talk about buildings rather than draw them." Phi NGUYEN

Phi studied at the Budapest Technical University in Hungary in 2009 after winning the Ballard-McConnel-Willis Mathematics Award. She received a Bachelor of Arts (Summa Cum Laude) from Berea College in 2011, majoring in Mathematics and Studio Art and minoring in Art History. In 2016, she completed a Master in Architecture at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Phi is an exceptionally talented artist and designer; she has exercised her professional skills in her home country of Vietnam (NQH Architects), during an archaeological exploration of Sardis in Turkey, and at Kengo Kuma and Associates in Tokyo, Japan.

Kai POLZHOFER

Kai attended the philosophy department of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich between 2004 and 2008. He continued his studies in philosophy, music theory and composition at the Universities of Graz, Austria and Leipzig, Germany. In 2013, he graduated with high distinction from University Leipzig (B.A. in Philosophy) and Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig (Diploma in Composition). His fellowships and prizes include Austromechana, Academy Schloss Solitude, International Summer academy Prag, Wien, Budapest, and the Francis Boott Prize. He received a national scholarship (“Deutschlandstipendium”) and is the cofounder and artistic advisor of forma Leipzig. He is currently undertaking a PhD in Composition at Harvard Univ. in the U.S.

Wilson Rui QIAN

Wilson won the Best Thesis Prize while completing a Bachelor of Engineering at Beijing University in 2010. He went on to complete a Masters of Urban Design from TCAUP, University of Michigan, and a Masters of Landscape Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Wilson was recently nominated as the International Research Associate of China's National Research Center and serves as the VP of the UM Beijing Alumni Association. He has worked as an urban designer at Cooper Robertson & Partners and Goody Clancy & Associates. He is now collaboratively establishing China's first urban design program and serving as overseas editor of several professional Chinese magazines.

Nathan RANC

Nathan received a MSc degree at Stockholm University and was awarded the 2013 GBIF Young Researcher Award for his work on species distribution modelling and conservation prioritization of mammals in the Mediterranean Basin. He is currently developing his PhD thesis on movement ecology at Harvard University (U.S.A.) and the Fondazione Edmund Mach (Italy). His work focuses on understanding the role of spatial memory in the spatial ecology of large mammals, with relevant applications for human-wildlife coexistence. Nathan is a three-time IRSAE travel grant recipient and the winner of a full FEM PhD scholarship at Harvard University.

Mahmoud RIAD

Mahmoud graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Architecture from Helwan University in Cairo, Egypt in 2006. And in 2009, he graduated with a Masters degree in Architecture and a Certificate in Urban Design from the School of Architecture, Planning, & Preservation at the University of Maryland in the United States. He won numerous awards including the Dean’s Thesis Prize & the 2009 AIA Maryland Graduate Design Award. After graduating, he moved to London to work at world-renowned Zaha Hadid Architects. In 2012, Mahmoud assumed the full-time design responsibilities of his family's architecture firm Riad Architecture.

Melissa SANCHEZ

Melissa obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English Language, Literature, History and Translation at the University of Grenoble 3 - Stendhal. As part of this degree, she studied for a year at SUNY in the state of New York, USA. She returned to France to earn her Master’s degree in Education where she developed her interest in immersive language-learning, known as the immersive CLIL method. Specialized in preschool, elementary school and language teaching, she then passed the National Recruitment Test for Primary School teachers. Melissa is currently applying her knowledge of alternative learning methods at the British Institute in Trento, Italy.
